From 1 February 2024 our Balance Mat pricing has changed. Balance Metrix is now offering allied health practitioners and researchers the following affordable subscription, purchase, software development and guest packages:

• monthly subscription package for allied health practitioners (exercise physiologists and physiotherapists);
• purchase package for university researchers in the relevant allied health disciplines (who cannot buy via a monthly payment arrangement);
• custom software development package for university researchers and large organisations that cannot operate the system online;
• starter package for researchers to cover feasibility, study design and human research ethics committee (HREC) approval;
• guest package for a specified project, event or short period of time (for those who do not wish to buy or subscribe to the system).

The Neurometric Balance Mat enables twelve 20-second balance tests with the person’s eyes open and then closed while standing on the computerised mat in the normal, semi-tandem, tandem, feet together and left and right foot stances.

Who is it for?

The Neurometric Balance Mat is used by vestibular physiotherapists and neurological rehabilitation professionals to assist in the management of clients with balance-related health conditions, particularly those with a neurological dimension like Parkinson’s disease.

Purchase packages comprise ownership of a computerised mat measuring 500mm x 700mm x 6mm, a connection cable, operating software, ongoing access to the online Balance Mat test results system and software updates. The Balance Mat operates on your own computer or laptop running Windows 10 or 11. Results are viewable onscreen in real-time in the form of a dynamic graph and score and are also saved in the Balance Mat test results system for comparison over time.

Software customisation to suit your organisation’s IT system

The custom package is for organisations that cannot operate the Balance Mat online (e.g. hospitals and universities). It entails Balance Mat software engineers working with your organisation’s IT people to enable the Balance Mat system to work independently of the Balance Mat online system. The custom package is in addition to the purchase of a BESS, Multimetric or Neurometric Balance Mat.

A total fee for 10 hours of software development credits at the rate of $150 ($165 incl. GST) per hour is payable up-front. Any unused credits will be refunded once the software development is complete. Conversely, should you need more than 10 hours of software development you will be able to purchase another block of 10 hours and so on.

Use of BESS, Multimetric or Neurometric Balance Mat for one year

The researcher starter package enables the use of a Balance Mat system for 12 months during the essential stages of a university research project including feasibility assessment, team establishment, study design, participant recruitment methodology, external organisation approval (e.g. aged care residential facilities, support groups like Parkinson’s Australia and others), funding attainment and human research ethics committee (HREC) approval.

Note that the $700 fee is non-refundable. After 12 months the researcher can extend the timeframe on a month-to-month basis on the usual subscription rate for the model of Balance Mat chosen or purchase the system outright, in which case the $700 starter fee will be treated as a deposit and subtracted from the purchase price.

BESS, Multimetric or Neurometric Balance Mat for 1 to 3 months

$75, $100 or $300 monthly

A guest package enables an allied health professional to use a Balance Mat system including the computerised mat, software and Balance Mat test results system for a specified project, event or period of time (minimum of 1 month, maximum of 3 months). For example, they may test large groups of people’s balance during April Falls Month or at a sporting carnival or seniors expo in order to promote the health benefits of good balance and attract new clients to the practice.

Guest balance testers are charged a total up-front fee based on the usual subscription rate for their chosen system. The computerised mat must be returned at the end of the subscription period in good order. Note that it must not be cut, bent, rolled, wet or stored in or near heat – we recommend keeping it safely against a wall in the sturdy cardboard box it comes in. If the mat is damaged by you a replacement fee of $700 ($770 incl. GST) will be payable.

Suitable for aged care facilities and sporting and ageing well organisations that do not wish to purchase or subscribe to a Balance Mat system and would rather take advantage of Balance Metrix testing services instead.

Facilities and organisations will be provided with a report and the ability to print out PDFs for each person tested that show balance as Excellent, Good and Poor, with a recommendation for the latter to seek medical or allied health attention.
